Summer is here, and it has been HOT HOT HOT! I am so excited about our MOPS summer events. Our next one will be at Shady Oaks Stables on Tue, July 7th at 10AM. For more info on this event, you can contact Amanda McKnatt. Our last event was at Jump N Joeys, and it was a blast. All the kids burned off all that extra summer energy, and I am sure they all took good, long naps. My girls sure did. Mommy got a nap in as well, so all in all I’d say it was an awesome day. Here are a few pictures of all the fun we had! I’m looking forward to our next outing.

Hey ladies...

It has arrived... our last MOPS meeting of the 2010-2011 year! Whew, this year has flown right on by. I guess it is true what they say, "time flies when you are having fun!"

This will be an awesome last meeting! We will celebrate you for mother's day with giveaways galore, look back at our year, and look ahead to the fall! Don't forget to invite mom friends and get here on May 3rd & 4th!!!

Speaking of giveaways, our first one will happen at exactly 9:30 am. The first person, who is NOT a dgl or steering or on the set-up crew , to meet me (Kelly Gooch) on the stage at 9:30am will get a special gift!! (if you mob me, I will have to resort to protection! :o)

Also, don't forget that this is your last opportunity to participate in our last outreach! This is our last week to save lives by bringing in change (or check) for Embrace infant warmers! You girls have already exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait how much more you will bless these moms this coming meeting!

We will also have some time at the end of our meeting for registration for the fall! Come, bring your check book or CC, fill out the form, pick your day, and register at the end of the meeting so you can start getting your MOPS benefits and reserve your spot for the fall! If you can't attend this meeting, let us know and we can send you a registration form to fill out, send a check , and either mail it to or drop it by the Real Life office , C/O Amanda Mcknatt at your leisure... (don't' forget, registration is $21.95 before June 1st)

HEEELLLOOOO Ladies!!

The weather is beautiful, summer is almost here, and MOPS is THIS Tuesday and Wednesday!! Life is good!!!

Yes, MOPS time is here... JOIN us April 19th & 20th as we celebrate Easter! I hear their might just be an Easter egg hunt just for us moms! I am a little excited to have one for just me and not have to push my kids out of the way for the eggs!!! LOL No, I would never do that! :o)

We are also honored to have Real Life's Family Ministries Pastor, Dustin Todd, come and talk with us! It is going to be a great day! You don't want to miss it!

Our outreach for the month is loose change to purchase Embrace Infant Warmers for moms and babies in third world countries! This is one great way we can extend MOPS international's mission to make sure NO MOM IS ALONE overseas!

Also... don't forget that Easter weekend is coming up the weekend of April 23rd & 24th. We would LOVE to personally invite you to Resurrection Weekend at Real Life on those dates! On Saturday night at 6 pm-- Sunday morning at 8 am, 9:30am, and 11:15am!! Hope we see you there!!

Hey girls...
If you missed our last meeting... you missed a good one! We visited our last MOMOLOGY dvd lesson!
We listened to Shelley Radic talk on how God wants to have a personal relationship with us, and walk through motherhood while holding our hands! Pretty awesome stuff! We also had two lovely ladies give us their testimonies on how they allow God to permeate their past, present and future in mothering! Tuesday we heard from Kelli Shelton and Wednesday we heard from Kelly Switzer! I also put down some of my thoughts on this subject on my personal blog here! I am so thankful for these girls and their transparency! First up... here is Kelly Switzer's words!!!

When I first attended a MOPS meeting, I expected to make some friends and get some parenting advice. I never expected the most valuable parenting advice I would receive would be to honor God in the way I raise my children. Proverbs 22:6 states, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Since then, I have made an attempt to include God in all aspects of my life, especially in trying to bring my girls up to love, honor, obey and glorify God in all that they do. The best way that I do this is to invite God into my home and my heart every morning.

I try to wake up early so that I have some quiet time with God before my girls wake up. I spend time reading God’s word and praying for the insight and wisdom so that I can understand how these words written so long ago are relevant to me. I have a Mom’s Bible that has devotions for every day of the year spread throughout. Sometimes I focus on a devotion that speaks to an issue in my mothering that is heavy on my heart. Other times I search out scripture by what is familiar, and sometimes I just flip blindly and pray that God would show me what to read. The devotions spread through the Bible help me to understand a particular passage and how it relates to my role as a mother. Then I pray. I try to pray specifically for my mothering and different aspects of my children’s lives. I have to remember that I need to pray for God’s will, turn it over to Him and stop telling Him what I think is best because He knows better than I do. On the days where I need just a little more sleep or I want to check my email before the girls get up and I skip my time with Jesus, I find myself struggling in my relationship with my girls. I am prone to lose my temper or to just ignore poor behavior because I don’t feel like dealing with it at the time. This isn’t fair to me or to my family.

I am also trying to teach my children about the power of prayer. We pray before meals, at bedtime, sometimes in the car, and when the need arises. I love the times when I find Maggie praying on her own without prompting. Sometimes she prays for a toy she wants but sometimes she prays for other people and for her family. Even Molly who isn’t 2 yet sits down to eat and starts saying Amen. These are some of the sweetest things!

Another thing we do is read the Bible as a family. Maggie has an illustrated children’s Bible that they love me to read from. Even when we aren’t reading together, she will look at the pictures and tell the story from memory. It is so fascinating to me when she is retelling a story that she learned at home or church. We also look for children’s story books with a lesson. The book that stands out the most is Mad Maddie Maxwell. This is a story about a little girl who lost her jump rope and accuses all of her siblings of stealing it. She isn’t so nice about it and her oldest sister helps her to find it in her messy room. After they find the jump rope, her sister teaches her to pray to God for forgiveness and then to go to her other siblings and ask their forgiveness also. We have turned to this story countless times because its message is so pure and it is a story that my girls love. We have even retold it as Mad Maggie Switzer.

I am still so new in my walk with the Lord and I question if I am really able to be a godly mother and if I am equipped to teach my children about a Lord and a Savior that I am still learning about. It is in these moments of doubt when I need to rely even more on Jesus. I am comforted and can feel the love that Jesus has for me. He died for me, He loved me even before I was born, and He loves me despite my sin and imperfections. He loves me even on the days when I don’t give my day and my mothering over to Him and if nothing else, I can teach my children about this love. “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:7-12

Are you saving all your spare change? Every penny counts!!! Look in your dryer, in your clothes before washing them, in your couches, in your cars, on the sidewalk.... Get the kids involved! They can fit into the smallest places and look ! LOL (We can take personal checks too :o)... make them out to REAL LIFE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, and we will get it where it needs to be!)

$25.00 purchases 1 infant warmer which translates to one life saved!!! We will be collecting from April to May!! This is our last outreach for the 2010-2011 MOPS year, so let's knock it out of the park!!! We have reached out to our chartering ministry, our community, and now our world!!! Let's see how many lives we can save!!!! NO MOM ALONE!!! (even across the ocean!)

Are you looking for any excuse to sit home for the next few days to avoid the pouring rain? The bad news is that there's no MOPS this week. The good news is that it's supposed to rain all week and you have a perfect reason to sleep in, take extra naps and stay in your pajamas. Okay, I realize we're all moms so the extra sleep part might not be possible but staying in your warm, dry house might be.

We'll see you next week on Tuesday or Wednesday for our first meeting of April. Remember, it's not too late to invite a friend or a total stranger to MOPS. We will be getting together over the summer so there's still time to join in on the fun.

What a great week at MOPS! We were fortunate enough to have Christina McPherson and Erin Ramsey with us to speak about the differences between raising boys versus girls. Here's a recap of the information they shared with us:

Erin talked about raising and homeschooling three girls. She always encourages their "inner princesses." All girls have a deep desire to be loved and cherished.  Her girls say that Jesus is their prince and their castle is in Heaven. She believes manners and obedience start when young and unconditional love is paramount. Erin honors her husband with words to model wife and mother character for her girls. She believes it's important to limit media usage and supervise what the children are watching.

Erin mentioned learning your children's love language. This helps you understand your kids better and communicate more effectively. (you can find out your child's love languages here!) She also talked about discipline's role in parenting. We should define boundaries, begin teaching respect when the kids are young. We need to distinguish between willful defiance and childish irresponsibility. Erin shared how prayer has helped her to be a better mother and keep a more peaceful home. Be sure to avoid impossible demands and always let love be your guide.

Christina is a homeschooling mother to three boys.  She said that some of the things that boys really need are a mom who builds up their dad, to be taught responsibility and to be allowed to be adventurous. She said that the most important thing we can teach our boys is who Christ is. As mothers, we can model humility by asking for forgiveness and also find favorite things to do with your son.

Here's a list of "You Should Knows About Boys:"
1. They are innately competitive and aggressive
2.  We have to build their self esteem
3. Boys don't think about outcomes; they are risk takers
4. Boys are just boys

Hey ladies!!!

I trust you are all staying dry or perfecting your boat building skills!! I have to admit that my poor lawn is super grateful for all this rain!

Guess what? It is MOPS time again!!! I didn't think it would ever get here! Alas... it has arrived! :o)
Our meeting THIS Tuesday and Wednesday, March 15th & 16th will be so much fun!! Our topic, BOYS Vs GIRLS, will explore the differences, challenges, and strategies for raising kids based on their gender!! Don't forget to represent!!!!!!! Wear either pink or blue! If you only have 1 preschooler then your choice should be easy, but if you have a couple... just wear whatever color represents the child that didn't test your patience that morning! lol

Be creative!

Don't forget our outreach for March... this is the last meeting to bring in items for the Real Help hospitality team! Remember non-perishables!!

Also if you have been taking pics or video of any MOPS event or meeting, pls share!!! Send them to the MOPS email account or put them on a disk for Lydia or Kelly!!

SAFETY FIRST!!!
As mothers of young children, safety is high on our list of priorities.   The word safety brings to mind hundreds of images of possible scenarios that our kids could find themselves in every day. Officer Chris Wrzesien visited us this week and talked about many safety concerns as well as took questions from the audience.

Here's a brief summary of what was discussed below:
Theme Park Safety
Determine a meeting point if someone is separated from the group.
Identify security guards

Stranger Danger/Crime Prevention
Pay attention to surroundings
Don't talk on cell phone while you are with children in public--It's an open invitation!
Assist law enforcement by remaining as calm as possible to answer the following:
       ----What was the child wearing?
       ----Hair color, eye color
DNA can be obtained from a hairbrush

Car Seat Safety
Law enforcement is available to help install car seats
Children should be in a 5 Point Harness until they weigh 60 pounds to avoid further injury.
Check with local police stations for up-to-date child restraint laws

First Aid
Become CPR certified
Know the signs of a head injury (uneven pupils, forceful vomiting)

Also, if you could please remember to bring an extra set of clothes for your potty training kiddos that would help our MOPPETS team better take great care of your little one if they have an accident! Our MOPPETS team does NOT want to send them home in wet clothes or naked , but they are running out of loaner clothes to change them into if an accident occurs. Thanks girls!!

What a great meeting this week! After a short video montage of some of our favorite MOPS moms talking about motherhood (I could watch the woman who sits in a closed room with a toddler yelling in the background, all day!) we were visited by a panel of experienced moms. Monica, Sue and Helaine have all been through the pre-school days with their children and were able to provide some big picture wisdom. They discussed everything from extra-curriculars to bonding and picking battles. It was so interesting to see the common threads even though everyone had their own point-of-view. Each mom reminded us to remember that these years are only a "season" in our lives. The potty training, tantrums and sleep issues will only last a short time and before we know it, our little ones will be in college...We have to keep our eyes on the big picture and enjoy all the moments.

We only have FIVE MEETINGS left, ladies! If you know a mom who isn't plugged in to MOPS, don't let another day go by before you invite her to our next meeting.

Hello Ladies,

Okay, I will admit I am in a little bit of a grieving process over the Super Bowl, but that is okay. There is a light at the end of that tunnel and it is MOPS!!!!!!!! MOPS time is here!! How better to heal than hanging out with all you MOPS girls and learning something new about mothering!:o)

This week , February 15th & 16th (tues./weds.) 9:30 am, we will have the pleasure of welcoming 3 "seasoned" moms to our meeting! This will be good! They made it through! Not without challenges I am sure, but they are making it!

Our outreach for this meeting is gently used toys , books, and puzzles! Let your "february cleaning" bless others!!!

Our meetings are right after Valentines day, so let's wear red or pink!

Last Week at Mops

What a great meeting about healthy "Mom Relationships" last week! We started out with a great craft project to benefit military families. A repeat from last year, we designed greeting cards for children whose parents are deployed. They are given a complete set of cards for the whole year--birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.. We watched a video which showed us just how much these simple cards mean to the families and the military personnel. Sometimes we may forget what a simple note from home can mean to someone.

We watched a video about mom relationships and then had great discussion on letting people in to create deep, meaningful friends and support. It reminded this mom just what MOPS is all about. Let's remember to share our wonderful organization with everyone; friends, family and strangers in the grocery store!

Can you believe it is already February? I blinked and here it is! Oye!!!
It is that time again!!! MOPS at Real Life!!!! Thank goodness because we have really missed all of you! Hey, 2 weeks is a long time in "girlfriend time"!!

THIS TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY, February 1st & 2nd: 9:30am , we will be going back and visiting MOMOLOGY!! Circle: engaging in healthy relationships that we can understand and invest in to create a web of support through this crazy journey called motherhood!

Our outreach for February is gently used toys and books to bless New Beginnings! So clean out those toy closets and boxes and bring in any gently used toys, games, books, puzzles.... and we will bless our community through that organization!!

Hope you will all plan on joining us and bringing your mom friends!! We have some exciting things happening at MOPS at Real Life and can't wait to share it all with you!!

Hey girls!!!

Hope you all had a great 2 weeks!!! Were you putting into practice some things that Robin shared with us last meeting? I know I have!! It is time now to get physical and explore resolutions for the body!!

MOPS this Tuesday and Wednesday, January 18th & 19th--9:30am. We will welcome a personal trainer, a nutrition gal , and a developmental pediatrician!! Hopefully together, they can all give us some great insight into starting this new year off right physically for ourselves and our families! We have a jammed packed morning so DON'T BE LATE! (and invite all your mom friends! This is one meeting they will NOT want to miss!)

Don't forget to bring a HEALTHY RECIPE for us to share during our ice breaker time!

Also our outreach for this month is diapers and wipes for our local teen moms! This is the last meeting to bless them, so let's make it good!!! :o)

Happy New Year, MOPS!

If you ask most moms, their number one concern when it comes to parenting is discipline and behavior. Most of us deal with these issues on a daily (or hourly) basis. Robin Miller gave us some wonderful information on raising children the way God meant us to. Robin gave us clear direction on why discipline is important and how she uses it in her own home with her four children. Although we all know it, a friendly reminder that consistency is key, gave this mom a much need wake-up call.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the topics covered, along with a pertinent bible verse to support it:

Disobedience—Ephesians 6:1 “Children obey your parents in the Lord, for the this is right.”

Blaming and Making Excuses—1 John 1:19 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrightousness.”

Arguing and Contention—Philippians 2:14 “Do everything without complaining or arguing.”

Complaining and Ingratitude—Proverbs 15:13 “A happy heart makes the face cheerful.”

Lying, Deceit—Proverbs 12:22—“The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.”

Hitting/Biting/Kicking—1 John 3:15 “Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in Him.”

Robin also discussed the issue of spanking or “The Rod,” as mentioned in the bible. The following verses support spanking as a means of discipline: Proverbs 24, Proverbs 22:14, Proverbs 23:13, Proverbs 29:15

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas! It was a great holiday! And... in my personal opinion, if it is going to be THIS COLD... it should be snowing!! Geez... got my long johns out! :o)

I know it feels like forever since we have been together-- wait no longer!! MOPS is THIS tuesday and Wednesday! January 4th & 5th at 9:30am This meeting we are starting our month long look at resolutions!!! First meeting is "resolutions for the soul" where we will explore what biblical parenting looks like with the help of our very special guest , ROBIN MILLER!!

Our outreach for this month is a continuation of loving on our teen moms! Bring in any diapers or wipes to help bless them!! Any brand, size, or color will help them have a great start to the new year!

'Twas The Night Before Christmas...Mom Style

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the abode

Only one creature was stirring & she was cleaning the commode.

The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds,

while visions of X-Box & Barbie flipped through their heads.

Yes, and dad was snoring in front of the TV,

with a half constructed bicycle propped on his knee.

So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter,

which made her sigh, "Now what is the matter?"

With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand,

She descended the stairs, and saw the old man.

He was covered with ashes & soot, which fell with a shrug,

"Oh great," muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug."

"Ho Ho Ho!" cried Santa, I'm glad you're awake."

"your gift was especially difficult to make."

"Thanks, Santa, but all I want is time alone."

"Exactly!" he chuckled, "So, I've made you a clone."

"A clone?" she muttered, "What good is that?"

"Run along, Santa, I've no time for chit chat."

Then out walked the clone - The mother's twin,

Same hair, same eyes, same double chin.

"She'll cook, she'll dust, she'll mop every mess.

You'll relax, take it easy, watch TV and rest.

"Fantastic!" the mom cheered. "My dream has come true!"

"I'll shop, I'll read, I'll sleep a night through!"

From the room above, the youngest did fret.

"Mommy?! Come quickly, I'm scared and I'm wet."

The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart."

"Hey," the mom smiled, "She sure knows her part."

The clone changed the child and hummed her a tune,

as she bundled the small one in a blanket cocoon.

"You're the best mommy ever. I really love you."

The clone smiled and sighed, "And I love you too."

The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal.

That's my child's LOVE she is going to steal."

Smiling wisely, Santa said: "To me it is clear,

Only one loving mother is needed here."

The mom kissed her child and tucked her in bed.

"Thank You, Santa, for clearing my head.

Sometimes I forget, it won't be very long,

before they'll be too old for my cradle and song."

The clock on the mantle began to chime.

Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time."

With the clone by his side, Santa said: "Goodnight.

Merry Christmas, dear Mom, you'll be all right."

Sometimes we need reminding of what life is all about.

Especially at times when the Holiday season shouts,

and all we do is clean, bake, and procure.
You get the picture -- I'm sure.

So stop for a moment and hug that little one so dear,

whether he/she is 2 or 22, or even older this year.

For they are the gift that God gave us from Heaven above,

and what a special gift to be treasured, with endless LOVE!

MOPS has thoroughly enjoyed and been honored to have April Travis as a part of MOPS-- first as a MOPS mom and then as a MOPS steering member serving and ministering to you! The Lord has been doing some things in her life... I will let her share!!!!!

Well MOPS friends…

Mittens, hats and lots of snow…OH MY!! Yes, the Travis family has moved to Colorado. We’re excited for this new season of life, however a little nervous that it’s happened so quickly!! We’ve sold it all…beds & dishes down to the fish tank! God’s really tugging at our hearts, helping us detach from “things” and draw closer to Him and each other. I guess you could call this a BIG leap of faith; one that we pray will surely be blessed. Luckily God’s word is full of promises…“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith (1 Thessalonians 1:11)”

So with all of that said, moving to Colorado isn’t goodbye it just means we’ll have to try a little harder to stay in touch Of course it would be so cool if you gals planned a MOPS ski trip; you ‘all are always welcome at our place!!

Now for the mushy part….I truly will miss each and every one of you! I remember 3 years ago wishing, hoping and praying that I could be a part of MOPS, it was the desired friendships that I’d been seeking for a long time! God answered that prayer in more ways than imaginable! Not only was I blessed to be a part of MOPS at Real Life, but I’ve made some incredible friendships that I’ll cherish forever. Thank You girls for being a very special part of my life and continuing to carry out God’s vision for MOPS…No mom alone!

Christmas Happenings at Real Life!!!

Greetings girls!!!
I can't believe Christmas is almost here!!! Even more than that, I am trying to wrap my brain around the idea that 2011 is right around the corner! Whew!! I guess time flies when you are having fun!

Just wanted to let you know about our Christmas happenings at Real Life Christian Church, our chartering ministry!! On Christmas Eve, we have 4 services to pick from! They will be a little under an hour each, and will be jam packed with Christmas fun that everyone will enjoy! So bring your family/friends and celebrate with us!! Childcare is provided and new this year the elementary age kiddos will have their own festive celebration in the Edge room (MPR)!!

This Week at MOPS

We began our meeting with some delicious food and a fun mug exchange. Everyone will be sipping coffee, tea and hot cocoa from their new mugs! After a discussion about Holiday traditions and plans for the next few weeks, we were treated with a visit from Mitch McKinney, Lead Pastor at Real Life East. A huge thank-you to Mitch for traveling and spending some time in a "room full of concentrated estrogen."

If your Christmas Season is anything like mine, it's full of peace, love, joy and magical memories...Wait, that doesn't sound exactly right. It's often difficult to remember the true meaning of Christmas when things are so crazy but Mitch gave us some tremendous information about what to do when life gets hectic and we don't feel like we can manage it all. We don't have to do it on our own! That's the GOOD NEWS. See a recap of the message Mitch gave us (as stolen by Melinda Gill's Facebook page because it was so much better than my notes.)

A "Goodness Sandwich" is when the middle is as good as the top and the bottom!

The top, John 14:1 NIV...Jesus Comforts His Disciples "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me."
The bottom , John 14:27 NIV... Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
The middle, John 14:2-26 NIV...well that is where the "Goodness" comes in... 2 "My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Jesus the Way to the Father 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...For Florida anyway. Don't miss our last official meeting of 2010 this week, December 7th and 8th at 9:30 at Real Life. Join us for brunch and a small gift exchange. Please bring a festive mug with something in it. Real Life East's very own Pastor Mitch McKinney will be joining us, too. You won't want to miss it. I trust you all had a great Thanksgiving!!! So how much did you eat? I ate till I couldn't eat any longer! My food induced coma only last a few days, so I am ready for MOPS!!!!

MOPS Christmas Brunch is THIS tues/ weds. December 7th & 8th-- 9:30am!!! Do NOT be late!!!! Christmas is in the air!! What a great way to start the season off right!! (also a great time to invite your mom friends-- let's pack the place!!)

Don't miss this meeting... we are honored to have our lead pastor from Real Life East Mitch McKinney join us!!! You will really enjoy him!

Also... don't forget to bring a Christmas coffee mug for our mug exchange! You can fill it with anything you desire, however... please try and keep it to $5.00 or below-- including the mug!! I was looking through the ads this weekend, and the dollar store has great mug sets! Yes, they are $1.00 ! :o) If you have extra mugs... bring them too. We want everyone to go home with a mug!! There is bound to be someone that forgets!

Our outreach for this meeting is spare change! So dig into those pockets, washing machines, and cracks in the sofa!!! Bring in all your spare change so we can fill up a jar and fill up a teen mom's heart!!

You missed a compelling meeting about forgiveness. It's something we all struggle with on a daily basis. Whether it's the big things in life or the little tiny issues that cause us to harbor bitterness and resentment, we are all faced with task of forgiving someone.

We were fortunate enough to have some wonderful women speak to us this week. Kerry Gross and Jamie Mann shared some deeply personal accounts of forgiveness in their lives that allowed them to move on and heal. Each personal story allowed us a glimpse into their lives and the peace that they felt once they finally forgave. We also watched a video featuring Beth Moore about loving difficult people. In the video, Beth stresses the power of an apology and talks about the "Refiner's fire." You can see more of Beth Moore at http://www.lifetoday.org/.

Throughout the morning, we had discussion questions about forgiveness in our own lives.

1. True or False?
     A person should not be forgiven until they ask for it
     Forgiveness includes minimizing the offense and pain that was caused
     Forgiveness includes restoring trust and reuniting a relationship
    You haven’t really forgiven others until you have forgotten the offense
Does it surprise you that the answers to all of these questions is FALSE? Which of these seem most true to you?
2. Share a story of forgiveness you have witnessed, or share a story of how a person responded to evil       with good. What did that mean to you? How did it make you feel?
3. Why is it so hard to forgive people who have hurt you? How will it affect you if you don’t forgive? How will it affect you if you do forgive?

Well, Yee Haw!!! I am still coming off our fun trip to the farm!!! If you missed it... the weather was beautiful, the animals were friendly, and we missed YOU!!!!!! :o)

That is okay... because we will see you ALL at MOPS this TUES/ WEDS!!!!! Yes, it is here! November 16th & 17th at 9:30 am!! Call your mom friends, bring them along, and don't forget to come ready for a great morning! We will be exploring the subject of forgiveness! We have 2 wonderful ladies who have amazing testimonies of forgiveness! You DO NOT want to miss this!!!

Our outreach for the Real Life Food Pantry is still going on! This is your last meeting to bring in dry goods to help bulk up the food pantry to prepare for a season of giving to our local community! Are you starting to collect all that loose change you pull out of the dryer? We will be collectiong that during our Christmas brunch meeting on Dec. 8th & 9th to help make Christmas a little brighter for our local teen moms! You girls are always so faithful in outreach!! Love it!! Oh, and don't miss some awesome stories about how God is using our HCPs to bless our community and bless our hearts in the process! The stories are posted here on the blog!

Have you given out your HOMELESS CARE PACKAGE?

Hey girls... have you had an opportunity to give our your HCPs? I haven't been able yet, but I am sort of excited to be able to. I took mine home from our meeting and added some more items to make it really awesome!

I am excited about how God is using you through your HCP! We may not think that the HCP is a big blessing, but I guarantee you... it is !!!!!! Here are a couple stories so far!!

Sunday, November 7th was the start of a new great tradition for our family. My husband's parents live in a retirement apartment complex off of Orange Ave. in Downtown Orlando. They have lived there for over four years and every time we come off the 408 onto Orange Ave, we see six or seven homeless people around the little pond at that intersection. We have taken my elderly father in law for walks around that pond and always see evidence of many people's homes. There are blankets balled up in the bushes, cardboard boxes covering a person's entire collection of goods, and shopping carts full of garbage bags filled with clothes and treasures.

On Saturday, I told my husband to tell me if he saw a homeless person. We were driving around Clermont, and to be honest, I can't recall ever seeing one of them just wandering the streets in this town. When my husband asked why, I told him to open the glove compartment where I had stashed the two homeless kits we made in MOPS. We didn't see anyone and I imagined he forgot about it so when we pulled onto Orange Ave. on Sunday, I was excited to hear him say, "I know we will see some here." Within 500 feet, my glove compartment was empty. The first person we saw was an older man carrying an old backpack. The man looked at my husband and said, "Wow, thanks, man!" Then we gave the other kit to a person resting on the bench. She seemed slightly confused but as my husband said, "God bless you," I saw her start to pull the granola bar out of the heart covered bag.

Since we are in that area at least once a month, we are going to make this a new habit for our family. It's such an easy quick way we can help someone and it's a great example to our kids. Instead of looking down upon the homeless people on Orange Ave, we were searching for them, spoke to them, and shared the love of God with them through the homeless kits.

I was able to give one of mine today to a homeless person at the corner of Silver Star and Hiawassee. He said, "God Bless you". So hopefully he will get good use out of it and maybe go to church somewhere. :). I felt really good about it and I have one more package to give and can't wait to bless the next person. :)

After a morning of mommy and me painting fun I sat in the parking lot debating whether or not to drive nearly 30 minutes to enjoy pizza with these moms and their children. While pondering my decision I saw what appeared to be a homeless man sitting under a tree in the parking lot of this local Clermont shopping center. Then I saw the little “care package” we made at MOPS recently sitting on the seat beside me and my daughter’s face in the rearview mirror and was reminded of my commitment that I would give that package away one day, but I would not if my daughter was in the car with me. Yet here I sat in the middle of a parking lot with a care package for someone that seemed to need the items, and perhaps to be shown a moment of compassion and God’s love. I sat and prayed, and yes wondered if I could catch my friends at the pizza date. I sat and looked at my daughter’s face and thought if she were in my shoes I would want her to “do unto others,” no matter what.

I drove up to this man, rolled down the window a bit, introduced myself and shared what the care package was all about. He stood there telling me that it “wasn’t much of a care package” and then told me a bit about himself. All the while “Larry” was taking items out of the care package and giving me a little smile, then took out the band-aids and gently placed them on his arm, took the time to smell the deodorant, and place the toothbrush and toothpaste in his shirt pocket, then placed the scripture card (and church information card) in his pants pocket.

I talked with him about God and our local homeless transition program, New Beginnings, and my desire to call the Case Manager (Bob) and have him come down to talk with him. He was not interested in New Beginnings, or what God has to offer. He shared that all he “wants in life is for someone to care about is the heart and the head, not what (he) can do for others.” I replied “God cares about you.” My 3 year old in the backseat then yelled “Yeah, God’s crazy about you!”

In the midst of our 10 minute conversation I learned that this 60 year old man needed a warm blanket. I made him promise to stay put and I would be back within 30 minutes and bring him a blanket. On my way home I called the New Beginnings office and Bob answered the phone. I asked if he could come talk and pray with Larry. Five minutes earlier Bob had an appointment cancel, and found out there is a room available at the Men’s House. Fifteen minutes later Bob and I took that man a blanket, and offered him hope that someone cares about him, a reminder that God is crazy about him, told him of local food and transitional programs, and of a homeless camp right here in the woods of Clermont that (as Bob put it) keep him safer, warmer, and perhaps even make a friend or two.

I don’t know where Larry will end up. I don’t know if he will call Bob, whose business card he placed in his pocket. I don’t know if I will ever come across Larry again, in this lifetime. I do know that within a few minutes he was across the street sleeping under a big oak tree and covered up with that blanket. I do know that God overcame my momentary motherly concern. I do know that when my daughter asked about “that man” I was able to tell her that we were helping someone, and when she replied “like God helps me” I was able to see in that moment how no matter our concerns, no matter our fears, no matter how far outside our comfort zone we have to go it is our duty to not only “do unto others” but it is our duty to teach our children exactly what that means.

Oh, and the pizza? I can’t believe I am saying this, because I love pizza, but I assure you today’s reward was far greater than any pizza I have

This week we put together our Homeless Care Packages to have in our cars. When we see people in need, we have something to give them. Everyone really came through with donations to make this project a success.

Our MOMOLOGY video series continued. This week's topic was "Finesse." The Panel discussed different ways you use finesse to navigate motherhood. From potty-training to temper tantrums, we all use our own style to make it through the major and minor aspects of being a Mom. It's so important to remember that we all have our own style and personality but we're all moms and we can learn something from each other.

Don't miss the next meeting when a few guest speakers discuss FORGIVENESS. Just seeing that word conjures up emotions. And couldn't we all brush up on our forgiveness skills? Join us, won't you?

How Can You Help?

Our motto for this year at MOPS is to leave No Mom Alone. We also reach out to the community when they are in need. This is an opportunity to do both. If you have size 14 pants or size XL shirts, there is a young mother in need. Please bring what you can to the next few meetings and we'll see that she gets these much-needed items.

In addition, another Outreach program we'll do for our only December meeting is a spare change collection like last year. So start saving up now-- reach into your piggy banks, your coffee cans, your pockets and contribute what you can. It all helps ,and MOPS moms never disappoint. More information will be given at our November 16/17th meetings!!

WOW!!! Can you believe it is almost NOVEMBER? That would mean... yes... I am going to say it.... CHRISTMAS IS 59 days away! Where did this year go? Okay, I will stop sending you all into a panic attack... let's focus on the here and now!!

It is time for MOPS !!!!!! Get excited, get pumped, get ready to explore our differing our mothering styles!!! I am so glad we are all different... this world would be SO boring if that weren't the case!!!

Don't forget this TUES./ WEDS. at 9:30 am (6:45 pm for night group) in the MPR!!! Do your best to be on time so you don't miss a single minute!!!

The MOPPETS are going to be making some unique crafts this week , so the team has requested that you bring a 4x6 photo of your toddler (ages 2 and up)!! Any photo will do! I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve!!!

This month's outreach is helping to "buff" up our chartering ministry's food pantry. As we go into the holiday season, we have a lot of families locally that need a little extra help! So we are bringing in some items that will help our community!!! Last meeting, we started by asking you to bring in a canned food item to help support the MOPPETS in their drive for the food pantry, but since then-- the food pantry has sent out another need! However you can help will bless someone this holiday season for sure!!!

It was a PINK day at MOPS at Real Life this past week. You all looked pretty in pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness. This week's Topic was Core: Who Am I? The DVD discussed a mom's personality (playful, powerful, proper and peaceful) and how your core influences her mothering. Understanding our own personality as well as our children's brings clarity to our strengths and struggles in the act of mothering.

This week's discussion questions included:
1. Share something about yourself that reveals your personality type.
2. How have you seen your personality influence your mothering style?
3. Is your child's personality the same or different from your own? How do you navigate that?
4. What is one part of your personality that you can utilize this week as you mother your kids?

I don't know about you, but I am so excited for fall to come!! The past couple of weeks were such a tease, weren't they?! :o) It will be here before we know it!! Of course with fall comes those addicting fall treats, namely CANDY CORN! Geez.... I need help!! :o)

It is time for our Oct. 19th & 20th meetings! WOO HOO! I was so blessed at our last meeting by Michele's talk on "soul sista's"!! I can't wait to explore MOM-ology some more this week, by looking at our personalities and finding out how they fit into our strengths and weaknesses as moms! We are going to have a "dress up" kind of day at MOPS this week!!! In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, MOPS at Real Life is going "pink"!! Find any pink you can find and support the cause!! Also our MOPPETS team would like your little ones to come in NON SCARY costumes-- their lesson is about not being afraid of people because they are different! You don't have to buy a costume... show us your creativity from what you have laying around the house!! :o)

As stated on the blog... we are so blown away by your commitment to outreach and giving back! Our stash for our Homeless Care Packages is growing, but we still need some more specific items brought in: (this is the last meeting for this outreach!!)

This Week at MOPS

We hope everyone's heart was changed in some way this week after hearing Michele Barnes speak. Michele is Real Life's Business Administrator and is on the Worship Team. In addition, she and her husband, Dr. Jeff Barnes opened Wellspring Christian Counseling Center together. Michele talked to us about female relationships and just how important it is to find a few true friends to confide in, confess and tell us when we're wrong. Michele referred to these true friends as "Soul Sistas," which her daughter used to define her truest friend who knows her inside and out. Here's the outline from Michele's speech:

God and Soul Sista’s

I. Women often feel alone even in a crowded room

a. We feel as if no one really understands us

b. We can not share the deepest part of ourselves

II. Why do women feel alone?

a. Look at creation

b. Each thing God created became more intricate and wonderful

c. We think God’s great symphony ended with His most prized creation; a man created in God’s own image.

i. Walked and talked with God

ii. Appears to be perfect ending

d. God said that it was not good

i. Eve was missing

ii. Eve is God’s flourishing touch to His creation symphony

e. We sometimes miss the significance of this

i. Women were also created in God’s image; to reflect His image in a different way than man

f. God desires an intimate relationship with every individual

i. Woman was created to demonstrate this desire

g. Satan deceives us into feeling alone so that we will not develop a Godly, intimate relationship with each other

i. Vital to our emotional well-being

ii. Vital to our spiritual well-being

III. Root causes for not creating intimate relationships

a. Pride – Proverbs 16:18

i. “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

ii. Pride destructs…especially relationships.

b. Exalting Pride

i. Constantly showing off the accomplishments of our children.

ii. Exaggerating, because the simple truth doesn’t get enough reaction.

iii. Serving or volunteering just to be noticed.

iv. Feeling entitled to star treatment, especially during times of sacrificial work.

v. Maneuvering for a preferred position in our extended family, community, or workplace.

vi. Luke 11:43

1. “You’re hopeless, you Pharisees! Frauds! You love sitting at the head table at church dinners, love preening yourselves in the radiance of public flatter.”

vii. When we exalt ourselves, we aren’t exalting God; we are seizing the credit that belongs to God and claiming it as if we achieved our position through our own merit.

c. Worthlessness

i. Deceptive form of pride that masquerades as humility, but is really a reverse method of attracting attention.

ii. Women who overwork and let others take advantage of them.

iii. Women who have a difficult time accepting help, gifts, or compliments because they don’t feel worthy, or who feel like it’s shameful or awkward to need help.

iv. Perfectionists who secretly try to prove they are worthy by absolutely controlling some area of their lives.

v. Women who are down on themselves and are constantly pointing out their shortcomings, failures, or areas where someone else is better.

vi. Many women tear themselves down so that someone will notice and build them back up.

d. Pride from a judgmental spirit

i. Attacks others be devaluing them and tearing them down

ii. Women who are critical

iii. Women who are irritable

iv. Women who are intolerant

v. Women who are argumentative

vi. Women who are self-righteous

vii. Attacking others and trying to change them is commandeering the place of the Holy Spirit in other people’s lives.

e. Pride that ignores others – women who are too proud to receive input

i. Not being teachable. The attitude of “I already have my act together” closes women to the efforts of others to speak into their lives.

ii. Remaining stuck in bad patterns. Some women see their past and their personality as a trap in which they’re stuck, instead of realizing they can choose either to stay the same or change their behavior. For some, the statement “You need to accept me the way I am” is a smoke screen they use to avoid changing bad habits.

iii. Never admitting fault. This is the “hard of hearing” woman, who doesn’t seem to perceive or internalize any words of correction, advice, rebuke, instruction, or warning.

iv. Ignoring others is a refusal to be influenced by those the Holy Spirit is trying to use to speak into your life – telling God: I’m fine just the way I am.

f. Second root cause is hidden insecurities

i. Due to childhood abuse

ii. Due to past betrayal in an important relationship

iii. Due to perceived physical defects or deficiencies

iv. Due to perceived personality deficiencies

v. Psalm 27:10

1. Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

vi. Isaiah 54:10

1. For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won’t walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won’t fall apart. The God who has compassion on you says so.

vii. 1 Peter 3:3-4

1. What matters is not your outer appearance—the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes—but your inner disposition. Cultivate your inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.

g. Third root cause is hidden sin.

i. Confess the sin to God

ii. Repent and move/RUN in the opposite direction

iii. Confess the sin to a trusted friend who will pray for you and hold you accountable to your decision to flee from sin.

iv. James 5:16

1. “Make this your common practice: confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.”

2. When we confess our sins to each other and pray for each other we will live together WHOLE and HEALED. A great lifestyle!

v. When we are living right with God, our prayers are POWERFUL! – verses 17-20:

1. “Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring them back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the way of error will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.”

IV. What do we need? A Soul Sista’!

a. Helps guard are hearts and souls from the enemy

b. Phrase came from my daughter, Morgan, and is how she describes her relationship with her best friend Nikki

i. They share their deepest longings, hurts and fears with each other

ii. They know the other person as well as they know themselves

c. What a soul sista’ isn’t

i. It’s not just a surface relationship

ii. It’s not a sexual relationship

d. What a soul sista’ is

i. An intimate relationship without walls

ii. A friend we can go to and share our most secret shame, our deepest needs and our most joyous triumphs

iii. Someone who helps guard our souls from Satan’s lies, tricks and schemes

iv. Helps restore the intimate relationship with God that we each desire.

V. I want a soul sista’!

a. I prayed for years for a soul sista’

b. Discovered that to find a soul sista’, you must first “be” a soul sista’

c. Throw off those things that hinder a soul sista’ relationship

i. Comparisons

1. When we compare ourselves to others, we either come out better, causing pride, or come up short, damaging our self-esteem

2. We each have wonderful God-given gifts to offer each other

3. We should embrace each other with acceptance and love

ii. Gossip

1. Galatians 5:15

a. “If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”

2. 2 Timothy 2:16

a. “Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.”

3. Proverbs 17:9

a. “Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.”

4. Ephesians 4:29

a. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

d. Why does my soul sista’ relationship work?

i. No pride aloud. We each have eliminated the pride that hinders friendships and have allowed ourselves to be open, honest, and vulnerable in this relationship.

ii. God-esteem has replaced self-esteem. We have allowed our value to come from God instead of from others. In this way we do not feel the need to compare ourselves to each other.

iii. Confidentiality. We know that the things we share in confidence will stay in confidence. Because of this, we can confess our short-comings and sins and eliminate any hidden sin in our lives.

iv. No Judgment. We know that we will not be judged. This does not mean that we do not confront each other’s sin, but it is only out of love and for the purpose of holding each other accountable and this is something we have committed to each other that we will do for each other.

v. Laughter. We enjoy each other’s company. We share the same humor and can laugh together.

vi. Love. Most importantly, we love each other with the love of God. We understand that God has placed us in each other’s lives to show His love to each other. Our relationship is an example of the intimate relationship that God wants to have with each of us.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
1. Have you currently or in the past made comparisons to other women? If so, how has this affect your own self-esteem as well as your relationship with other women?

2. How has gossip hurt your friendships?

3. Do you currently have a “soul sista’”? If so, what makes this relationship so valuable to you?

4. If you don’t have a “soul sista’” what is it about this kind of relationship that you find appealing?

5. Name the one biggest hindrance that currently exists between you and a “soul sista’” relationship.

6. What will you do today to help eliminate that hindrance that you identified above?

We are also continuing to collect pre-school friendly snacks for the Fall Festival at Real Life. We only have one more meeting this month before we'll need the snacks for the MOPS booth on Friday, October 29th.

Real Life Fall Festival

Ladies, as mentioned at the meeting last week, the Real Life Fall Festival will be Friday October 29th from 4pm to 10pm.. MOPS will be sponsoring a booth at the Festival so we will be needing a few things. First, we need volunteers to man (or WOman!) the booth for one hour shifts. We already have a few volunteers but we'll need more to run a game for the kids, hand out snacks and talk about MOPS to our community members who may not know about it. Please email Jen Dziadosz at dzjen@hotmail.com if you're interested in working the booth. Your help is greatly appreciated. The other thing we'll need for the booth is snacks. We're looking for non-sugary snacks for the little ones: Teddy Grahams, granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, pretzels, raisins, etc.. You can drop these snacks off at the next two MOPS meetings leading up to the Fall Festival.

October Outreach Project

This month's Outreach Project is Homeless Kits. The goal is to be able to arm ourselves with a toiletry kit to give out when we see people who need it when we're out and about with our kiddos. We'll be collecting items through the month of October, which will be compiled into kits. Look into your stashes of trial size items and see what you can donate. Here are just some of the items we could use:

Are your MOPPETS ready?

Just as the excitement has been building for MOPS to begin for us... the excitement is growing among our MOPPETS team!!! They are waiting for your little ones with great anticipation!! We want your child to have fun, learn, be loved, and be safe while they are here! Ann Marie, Julissa, and the team have worked very hard to make this year one to remember. This year will be structured with stations, activities, lessons, and FUN galore!!!

In order to make sure your MOPPET has a safe and awesome time , here are a few things to remember:

PLEASE:

~Label all bags, blankets, pacifiers, and cups! I know we teach them to share, but we don't want to share anything but toys!!

~Read over the Wellness policy. We work very hard to make sure our MOPPETS program remains as germ free as possible!

~Have your MOPPET here on time! We don't want them to miss ONE second of the great program we have for them! (nor do we want you to miss out on the program happening for you!) MOPS starts at 9:30am-- our workers are really anxious to see your little ones, but they need to be ready for them. Please do not attempt to take them to childcare before 9:00 am.

~ Please do not bring in outside food or drink. You can bring them their own LABELED sippy cup, but outside food (unless provided for a specific dietary need) presents challenges while trying to manage allergies and specific needs. We will provide snacks i.e. cheerios, goldfish, etc...

~ Inform the check- in staff & your child's worker of allergies or any other needs the child might have.

~Send in an extra set of clothes. Accidents and "blow-outs" happen. We would take the ones off our backs for them, but I fear they won't fit!! LOL

~Hold onto your check -in sticker w/ the number. This a two- fold purpose. 1. if your child needs you, we will flash that # on the screen to let you know. 2. You NEED this sticker to pick up your child. Your child will NOT be released by any worker to anyone without that pick- up sticker nor will you be permitted down the child care hallway without it. As we grow, we take on more children. Safety is a very important part of our program! We love your kiddos and take security VERY seriously!!

~ Use the lobby bathroom and not the one in the childcare hallway. When we go into that hallway after things are calm, all it takes is one little MOPPET seeing a mom... doesn't even have to be their mom... and they start an all out wailing war that echos through out the classes!

~Don't forget... it is a new year. Your MOPPETS might fight to not let you go. They have been out of the "MOPS" routine since May. It will take a couple meetings, but they WILL adjust! Our workers are ready to assure them that you will come back, and will love on them till you do! We are all in the same boat! Don't stress if your # is flashed! We are all moms first! We have been or will be there... Try again next meeting!

Remember last MOPS season when we made greeting cards for children of deployed parents so they could send them out? Each of the recipients were sent a postcard to send back to MOPS with information about themselves and a prayer request.

Our 2010-11 MOPS Season is almost here, ladies!!! Join us for our kickoff on September 7th (if you're attending Tuesday meetings) and 8th (if you're attending Wednesday meetings) at Paradise Park. We'll be there from 9:30 until you're too hungry, sweaty or tired. Water and popsicles will be provided but if you're staying for lunch or need additional snacks, please bring them along. We're so excited to see all of our old friends and lots of new ones. Reach out to moms who haven't attended a MOPS meeting or haven't joined us in awhile and bring them along. Remember: NO MOM ALONE.
We've got an exciting year planned! If you cannot make the kickoff meeting, our first meetings at Real Life will be September 21st and 22nd.

Just a Mum?

A woman, renewing her driver's licence ,

was asked by the woman at Registry to state her occupation.

She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

'What I mean is, ' explained the woman at Registry,

'do you have a job or are you just a ...?'

'Of course I have a job,' snapped the woman.

'I'm a Mum.'

'We don't list 'Mum' as an occupation,

'housewife' covers it,'

Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself

in the same situation.

The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,

efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like,

'Official Interrogator' or 'City Registrar.'

'What is your occupation?' she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know.

The words simply popped out.

'I'm a Research Associate in the field of

Child Development and Human Relations.'

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and

looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.

Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,

in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

'Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest,

'just what you do in your field?'

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice,

I heard myself reply,

'I have a continuing program of research,

(what mother doesn't)

In the laboratory and in the field,

(normally I would have said indoors and out).

I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family)

and already have four credits (all daughters).

Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities,

(any mother care to disagree?)

and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).

But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers

and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money.'

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she

completed the form, stood up and personally ushered me to the door

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,

I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.

Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,

(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,

testing out a new vocal pattern.

I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!

And I had gone on the official records as someone more

distinguished and indispensable to mankind than 'just another Mum.'

Motherhood!

What a glorious career!

Especially when there's a title on the door.

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...

Join us in the cool comfort of the indoors (to reduce the dehydration) on Tuesday, July 6th from 10am-noon at the Real Life Multi-Purpose Room. There's something for everyone! We will have an interactive story time session with music and a craft project. If that's not enough fun, we are having a book exchange. Just in time to beat the summer boredom, you can bring in up to 10 books to trade for "new" ones (reuse and recycle). The books must be free of scribbles and tears and appropriate for children under five. It's going to be a great, green day.

If you're free in the evening, we'll be at Steak N Shake in Clermont, on Hwy 50. If you haven't heard, the ladies of MOPS are there every Tuesday evening from 8 until the shakes stop flowing. Cool off after a long day with friends, fun and frozen dairy. If you need more information, click here.

Summer baby news!

Tammie Bruinsma gave birth via emergency C-section to her twin boys on June 2nd. Joseph and Andrew were born @ 11:15 am. The Lord has other plans for baby Andrew, so He called him home to heaven even before he was born.

Joseph was born weighing 2lbs and 6 oz. Joseph will need to be in the NICU until he is strong enough to come home. The Lord has His hands on him--Joseph was born breathing on his own! :o) woo hoo!!!
Please continue to pray for the family as they grieve Andrew and help Joseph win his battle to come home!

Meeting Re-Cap, May 4th!!! Launching Pad!

We are launching into summer!!! I can't believe it is almost here!! I know my kids are over the moon excited!! Today we had different stations which each had some different summertime activities that we can do with our kids!! We had everything from file folder games to Peanut butter play dough!!! I knew you would all ask so without further delay... the recipes for the play dough!!!

Peanut Butter Play dough

1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
2 cups powered sugar

Mix ingredients in a bowl then store in airtight container.

*let kids play with dough on a sheet of wax paper

If you or your child has peanut allergies... I highly recommend using the recipe below!!

Salt Dough
1 cup salt
1 1/4 cups warm water
3 cups flour

Day one-Pour 1 cup salt into large bowl, add 1 1/4 cups warm water and mix. Add 3 cups flower and mix. Knead into ball and seal in plastic bag and refrigerate.

Day two-Mold into anything you desire.

Day three- Paint it and enjoy!

MOPS 2010- 2011 PLAN!!
Really exciting stuff is going on at MOPS at Real Life!!! We started out 2 years ago with about 24 ppl attending our first meeting . It has grown by God's grace into 110 registered mom's!! If we had everyone show up on 1 meeting we would have to pull out more seats and tables!! The Lord is good and really knows that there is a need in Lake, Orange, and the surrounding counties for us mom's to come together and take this journey together!!! NO MOM ALONE!!! We firmly believe that!!! Motherhood is hard and one of the best and most important jobs on earth.... we don't need to do it alone! So... with our plan for next year , we are going to be able to make sure that NO MOM is alone!!!

We are going to be having 3 meetings!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT?????????? Did I just say that out loud!! Yes, maam I did!!!! We will have a tues. morning meeting , a weds. morning meeting, and a night meeting! The meetings will be in the same week so we will still have our week off of MOPS. The night meeting will fall on either a monday night or tuesday night to allow for childcare! (details about the night group are still being worked through!)

The 2 morning meetings will mirror each other so you won't miss a thing!!! 2 morning meetings will enable the mom who works part time to be able to join us!! If they work MWF... they can come to our Tues. meeting. If they work T or TH.,... they can attend our Wednesday meeting!! The night meeting will enable the working mom who works full time to attend and connect with other moms-- also single mom's can have a couple hours to chill , connect, and re-group!!

Also with 3 groups comes places for you to get involved!! Our coordinators for next year, Kelly Gooch and Pam Amaral can't do it alone! We need Hospitality team, Service team!!! We will need discussion group leaders as well!! If you have a passion for MOPS and making sure NO MOM IS ALONE, then shoot us an email ,and we will help see where there is a place you can get plugged in!!

The theme for next year is MOMOLOGY--
the art and science of mothering!
MOPS registration is $21.95 until May 31st. You can pay by cash, check (made out to MOPS international), or CC at our next meeting on May 18th. After May 31st registration will be $23.95 for next year! With your paid registration your benefits include:

~ you get to pick your MOPS day!
(we need for you to pick one day to attend-- we will be capping the first group at 60 so we don't have 10 on one day and 80 on another day!! Oye!!! The vision is to have room for growth on both days and help us with our childcare numbers!!!)

I know, I know... Friday fun hasn't been around a lot lately, but I am going to really try and get with the program!! We all need a little fun to usher in the weekend!! SO....

I was packing for my business trip and my three year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said, “Daddy, look at this,” and stuck out two of her fingers. Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said, “Daddy’s gonna eat your fingers,” pretending to eat them. I went back to packing, looked up again and my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face. I said, “What’s wrong, honey?” She replied, “What happened to my booger?”

You Might Be A Mom If . . .
